So when restored it looked like this
At that point in December 2023 we hoped it would recover fairly quickly and so it proved !! This is it now
Where's the pond I hear you cry! it's under there somewhere, in our defence the main reason we haven't cleared the undergrowth is to reduce evaporation in the drought, I top it up out of the water butt but that's running low now! Every year since the restoration we have had Frogs in the pond with up to four large ones at the same time! Usually producing large amounts of Spawn, followed by numerous Tadpoles but haven't seen any Froglets, although earlier in the year I noticed some very large Tadpoles among the smaller ones and eventually some had legs. I wondered if they were last years ones, having spent the winter in the pond!? Anyway couple of days ago I spotted a tiny Froglet Whoop! Then chief Froglet spotter Shannon, (my son Duncan's better half) spotted some more!! A high count of 12 Froglets and one big-un!! These Froglets are tiny would easily sit on your finger nail, which is obviously why the pics are a bit dodgy!
