Wales Day 3 2026 Part 2

Having left South Stack we headed to RSPB Cors Ddyga, a reserve of big skies and wide open spaces, sightings of note, Sedge Warblers, lots of Lapwings and Lapwing Chicks, a cracking Marsh Harrier which sadly stayed far away and some very big fish, which I think are Mullet!!

Sedge Warbler

Lapwing

Lapwing chick, saw several!

I think Mullet,was a shoal of about 20

Think this might be a Whimbrel

Some of the Ducklings don't get eaten straight away

Keeping a close eye on the offspring

Marsh Harrier

Stonechat

A very nice reserve, although colder than of late, due to the wind and me being to lazy to go back to the car for a sweatshirt!! a T-shirt was not enough😱!!

Next stop was dinner and then on to the Dingle for Red Squirrels which it has to be said performed amazingly well, we saw at least 3 but probably 4 individuals. Last time we went  there were some sort of official feeding stations, these seem to have gone, but it looked  like several local people have taken over! Which is handy from a photography point of view, they are tricky little blighters but we persevered and got a few reasonable shots, though I had to spend half the time deleting pictures from the SD card I had filled up earlier in the day, bloody Choughs!! 😁

Anyway a few shots of the Charismatic little blighters below, you know it's not going to be a few don't you!😁😁😁

Lots of Bluebells in the woods

Having a contemplation moment amongst the Bluebells

Nicking a nut!

Showing some acrobatic skills!

Action pose

This one was much less showy than the rest

Hello!

Cheeky fella!

Something not to it's taste!

Remarkable restraint on my part considering!!!

It wasn't just Squirrels the reserve had some nice birds as well and the Bluebells were beautiful looked lovely!
