Today we awoke to heavy rain, with the worse forecast of the week, we decided to head to Stithians Reservoir, where after a brief stop at the top end then negotiating and ignoring the road closed signs, we eventually found the hide, where we spent a happy couple of hours in the company of the Warden and Assistant Warden, their anecdotes were both informative, various conservation projects and entertaining, various people being stuck in the mud!! There were also some good birds in the rain, the highlight being a Pectoral Sandpiper, also plenty of Ruff, Ringed Plover, Dunlin, Greenshank, Godwit and a couple of Curlew Sandpiper.

A couple of Ruff, photography was very difficult today, especially with my limited skill level! So forgive the poor pics |
 |
Pied Wagtail, a flock of 30 or so on the mud at the other end! |
 |
Grey Heron, ironically the most colourful pic! |

Eventually, due to numb bum, 😲we decided to head off, I had been bemoaning the lack of Choughs at Pendeen, the guys in the hide suggested we go to Sennen Cove, where a bloke feeds em!! Best of all you can see them from the car park!!!!
We arrived an hour or so later, the weather had improved, rain stopped! Sennen Cove was lovely, though I imagine hell on earth in August!! The Choughs were present as promised and we walked up to the viewpoint, where I was able to do a bit of a Seawatch, unfortunately, I had left the scope in the car and couldn't be arsed to walk all the way back down to get it. Lots of Manx Shearwaters going through but distant, Gannets were closer and the odd Fulmar appeared as well, the view was impressive as well, with Land's End in full view!!

Me checking with Margie if she really wanted top climb this steep cliff, note the Sunburn!! |

I continued the loan vigil in the howling wind! though this side was nice and calm, the other side you could hardly stand up! |
 |
The view of the beach from the viewpoint! |
We walked the length of the beach, the sea was magnificent, the Surfers were enjoying it!! Margie had, due to the weather, left her camera in the car so it was down to me to try to capture it!!
 |
There were a few Seals loitering offshore |
Bit of Sun would have been nice, but was a fab, bracing walk!! We ended up at the Sennen Surf Lodge where we had some very nice Seafood and then an Ice Cream on the beach. The lack of Gluten Free cones was a bit annoying, pretty much every Ice Cream shop in Wales had them, come on Cornwall step up!!

I apologised for the mess, the waitress said she'd seen worse, not often, but she'd seen worse😆 |
 |
Couple of Gannets over the surf! |
 |
Couple of Choughs on the roof |
A very cooperative Rock Pipit back in the car park and appropriately grey bird for a grey day!!

The drive back to base was pretty horrendous as the heavens opened again, flash floods in several places around Penzance meant several diversions, but we got back eventually!! A much better day than anticipated!!!!
Hope you noticed I didn't use the Chuffed to see the Choughs joke!!! So mature!!
