A walk up the Downs

Margie and I had a very pleasant mid-morning walk on the South Downs, a loop east of the Bostal Road at the Sompting end, serenaded all the way around by Skylarks, Common Whitethroats, Linnets, Dunnocks and Corn Buntings, weather was a bit grey with a few drops of rain towards the end, couple of small flocks of Swallows going through the only sign of migration and loads of Cowslips which are always good to see. A few of the above posed ok although as usual the conditions weren't the best, not sure which conditions would be the best to be honest 😂 as i don't seem to get great pictures whatever they are😲 but I will keep using them as an excuse obvs!!!

Common Whitethroat in the carpark which was a good start!

Cowslip

Kestrel

Hare with Leveret, very distant

Different Common Whitethroat

Linnet with something for the nest

Corn Bunting having a sing!

Another different Common Whitethroat told you there were loads!

A different Corn Bunting

Another diff..... etc etc !!

Kestrel fly through

Skylark, keeping an eye out for Kestrels!

Skylark in flight, yes I don't know why I bother either😂

The view Shoreham/Brighton et al

The view the other way

Bit of variety a Meadow Pipit, only saw the one!

Back to the Linnets!

Although he posed well enough

Different Cowslip, were loads of these as well!

Told you loads, Margie's phone pics!

Not much variety but what you would expect from the Downs and quite good numbers of Corn Buntings which is good news! A very enjoyable couple of hours!
