Holiday 2021,Day 4 ,Saturday 1st of May

Today, after another excellent breakfast left Dumfries and Galloway and headed north to Badachro another 300 odd miles, we had planned to call in at Loch Garten in hope of a Crested Tit, but various hold ups meant we ran out of time, so brief stop at Tesco's Inverness to buy supplies and we arrived at our destination at approximately 4.30. Not many sightings but some cracking scenery along the way!

This was just outside Inverness taken by Margie on her phone

Getting out of the car two Cuckoos were calling, several Willow Warblers were also holding forth and a couple of Redpolls were chasing each other through a tree,

We were staying on Dry Island which involved our luggage being taken over by boat, whilst we walked across on the floating bridge, the walk was a bit of a trek a good 10 minutes over quite tricky terrain, getting onto the bridge was also a bit dodge especially when you've only got little legs like Margie 😃 Was also a bit hairy later in the week, when the tide was in and the wind was a-blowin!

The luggage on it's way!!

Crossing the bridge I spotted a bird floating on the water in the harbour a bit distant but clearly a Black Guillemot, awesome start!!

We settled into the cabin, as I looked out of the window a cracking male Red-breasted Merganser flew in and landed on the water in front of me!!

It was a cracking evening the mountains viewed from the sofa were bathed in sunshine and looked amazing, Oystercatchers were flying around, a Common Sandpiper flew in but I missed the picture!!

We knew we were in "proper" Scotland when a Hoodie came into the tree on a small island in front of us, love a Hoodie!!

The Scenery from the window was fantastic, a distant Island had 12 seals on it and it all looked very Otterey!!

The final visitor of the evening was this inquisitive Herring Gull

So first impressions seems a very nice area with plenty going on wildlife wise ,looking forward to exploring in the next few days!!
