Holiday,2021, Monday, 3rd of May

Today the weather, as predicted by the forecast, had taken a turn for the worse on the plus side this seemed to have brought the Seals which had been lurking on a couple of Islands a bit further out the previous day, right into our bay, perhaps seeking shelter from the wind anyway close enough for some pics!! I think these are Common Seals but there were definitely Grey Seals in the area

This Guy was me favourite so laid back!!

The Gang

Another good bird added to the sofa list when a Curlew flew in and landed just outside the door, pic through the glass so not up to standard!

Curlew

Couple of Greylag several of these in the area including a couple with Goslings

We headed out, the weather quite windy so we would be sticking to the car, so decided to try the Torridon road, said to be scenic! We headed out once again my habit of scouring every Loch we passed paid off, with a pair of Black-throated Diver!!!! They were, as always distant but looked stunning through the bins, but the light and distance made pics challenging! We saw these birds on the way out and on the way back, but on subsequent visits they weren't present so maybe just visiting, checking out a potential nest site.

Plenty of Hirundines zipping about the lake, typically if I'd try to get a pic this sharp would have failed!!!

We dragged ourselves away, we stopped at the Kinlockewe view point looking down the valley to Loch Maree

We headed down the Torridon Road and ended up at the Bealach Na Gaoithe Viewpoint fair to say the scenery was spectacular, wildlife was a bit thin on the ground, hardly any birds and a few deer, fair to say perhaps the difference between the mainland and the hebrides a similar drive on Uist I would be looking out for Hen Harriers, Short-earred owls, etc felt the Moorland areas we went through all holiday were very quiet, possibly due to the cold weather with Pipits, Wheatears etc staying by the coast, before moving up into the Moors later? Who knows?
 The scenery though was awesome

This was definitely my favourite mountain I think it's Beinn Eighe but I might be wrong

Red Deer

Very nice drive, it is a rugged, beautiful area for sure!!
