Margie and I had a pleasant walk on the South Downs today, from Titch Hill to Cissbury Ring, strangely quiet on the small bird front, no sight or sound of any Corn Buntings, Yellowhammers, Linnets or Goldfinch which we would usually expect in the area, we didn't even see a Starling!!! There were a couple of singing Skylarks , but distantly and we didn't see them, couple of Meadow Pipits flew over but all in all very disappointing for an early Spring day!! On the plus side there were loads of Common Gulls and a couple of Red Kites showed well. Still a nice walk in the sunshine! A few of our pics below.

They had to shut Shoreham Airport for a few minutes as the sun glare off the top of my head was blinding the pilots!! |
