Waxwings and Cake!!

Not felt well all week😢 so didn't fancy a long walk and with some Waxwings just a couple of miles up the road it seemed a no-brainer to head over, also needed some stuff from Tesco so a multi-tasking opportunity! Obviously the light was pants!!
Didn't take long to find em, another guy pointing a big lens at em a big give away!!😂 Parked up and had a nice ten mins with em before they flew off!! Had a drive around couldn't find them, went to Tesco bought the stuff required, found the Waxwings again had another good go at em, left as other birders were arriving, very enjoyable, my fourth lot of Waxwings this winter, still haven't seen em in sunshine!! 😢
A few pics below. I did me best😢😁😂😱😰

These lazy good for nothing Waxwings are just 2.84kms, as the Waxwing flies, from our garden, the trap is set!! Although the greedy Blackbirds and Starlings have eaten all the Rowan berries and most of the Cotoneaster Berries we planted ten years ago in anticipation of this very moment, there still some Rosehips left, looking lush!! Although there are probably only enough for one each, so if they do come they probably won't stay long!!

The bait!! So juicy, probably come in when I'm at work!!😢

On arrival home, despite still feeling not the brightest😢 I decided to make a cake, so brave!!😀 Both my regular readers will remember that my Daughter bought me some funky Gluten Free flours for Christmas, so I decided to use the Cassava one for this, a classic Victoria Sponge though controversially I used  Blackcurrant Jam instead of Strawberry but came out surprisingly well, plenty Baking Powder and Xanthium Gum bunged in as well as  Vanilla Extract, tasty as and a nice texture!!

The good stuff, Blackcurrant Jam and Vanilla Buttercream

Bit Rustic

Quite airy!

That wasn't just my slice btw, Margie had some as well!!
