Langton Lane Wander!!

With the the weather looking ok decided on a local walk, Margie was thrilled when I suggested Langton Lane to have a look at the dung heap!!!😀 Loads of  Sparrows and Starlings in our road and another colony along the fields between our road and the lane, nice Song thrush having a singsong here as well though not sure if the Blue Tit was enjoying it or not?

Song Thrush and Blue Tit

Margie was busy taking pictures of grass and shizz😲 to some good effect has to be said! some of her pics below

Buttercup and Fly

Some good stuff there!!

Out on the lane a  distant Buzzard on a tree looked moody, a Juvenile Robin popped up getting his first red breast!! There was a Deer with a very small Fawn but I was so busy going ahhhh I forgot to get a pic in the few seconds it was on view😢

I can take pictures of flowers as well!!!

Buzzard

We reached the Dungheap which was pretty quiet, couple of Blackbirds and a small flock of Goldfinch but both eluded the camera!! Though I got me church picture!

Wolstonbury Hill

Things picked up a couple of hundred yards further on though with a very showy Chaffinch and a Goldfinch which not to be out done had a pose out in the open both singing their heart out!

Squirrel looking a bit sus?!

We continued on, the Greenfinch were in the usual place and a Bullfinch flew out of a tree with another calling from deep in the hedge but didn't get any pics of anything😢
Walked through the Turkey Farm but little about followed the path along the stream, where we found a nice Red Damselfly but not a lot else really! Couple of Whitethroat singing but not very posy!

Didn't hang around to find out what this was going to transform into!!

We crossed the fields next to Cuckfield Road, I was just bemoaning the lack of Yellowhammers this year, none of the places where they were last year seemed to have any although I haven't visited as much this year so maybe just missed em, when I heard the distinctive song in the distance and after much scanning, Hurrah I laid eyes on it👀!!

We headed through the small plantation back to Langton Lane another Song Thrush here. Back on the lane, the Greenfinch were showing better and a Bullfinch flew across the road but I was concentrating on the Greenfinch so didn't get a shot!! Some Swifts were hawking over the field below the Dungheap but due to their speed, the hedge and my general incompetence the pictures were mainly pants!!😢 The last major sighting of the trip was another Yellowhammer which I heard first again before spotting but was miles away. Margie was amazed by the fact that I could hear the faintest wisp of Yellowhammer song from miles away and  yet not hear the kin great 4x4 that nearly ran me over as I was standing in the lane! Although this did confirm her theory that I do tend to hear what I want to hear😲😲😂!!

Another Song Thrush plenty of these singing again today

Church looking moody but we escaped the rain!

Greenfinch but light was tricky

We arrived home about 3.5 miles walked which was good, pretty muddy out and about but got through in walking boots rather than wellies, lots of Sparrow fledglings being fed in the garden including one brood of four youngsters which is good for around here, generally being fed in ones or twos so a good sign!! We are basically wall to wall Sparrows and Starlings, couple of Blue Tits, a pair of Blackbirds, with the occasional raid by Jackdaws, a couple of Woodpigeon, a couple of Collared Dove and some Feral Pigeons so it was nice to see something different today in the form of a scruffy Coal Tit and a dapper Dunnock. We had a couple of Coal Tits in the winter but they generally flew in nicked a seed and flew off again, the one today at least had the decency to hang around a bit for pics!! During the winter we had visits from 3 Sparrowhawks, you may remember my prize winning pic😀😀😀😀😀, can't believe with all these dopey juvenile Sparrows and Starlings sitting about like sitting targets we aren't getting regular visits must have gone elsewhere to breed😢

Bubby Sparrows ahh💗 (through Glass)

3 of the 4 getting a bit of attention from Mum who to be fair is working our feeders hard!!

Coal Tit,not a fan of feeder shots but the bugger wouldn't land anywhere more picturesque
