With big winds forecast, Margie and I decided to head down to Newhaven West Beach, to try and get some pics of the Waves crashing into the West Arm, it's a thing we like to do! About 50 other people had the same idea!! Probably the most spectacular we have ever seen it! A combination of wind strength, direction and the high tide conspired to produce some huge waves. Quite weirdly in the actual harbour the waves were a going the "wrong" way, heading out to sea, which shows just how powerful the wind was! Margie being lighter than me was nearly blown away! Along with the waves, I wanted to get some pics of Gulls battling the wind, to my delight two of them turned out to be Little Gulls, which in my opinion are the best Gulls!! (At this point I wasn't aware of the influx of Little Gulls along the coast) So was pretty chuffed to spot them! Anyway our pics below! Bear in mind, the Sea was moving the gulls were moving and the wind was more or less trying to knock me over, so that's my excuses in place! 😂They weren't taken in black & white, that was just the light!!

Think the pictures give some idea of the maelstrom, the power, carnage, turbulence generated by the storm!
Which makes seeing these guys out in it, blooming amazing! Unbelievable really, total respect!
So to the Gulls, much maligned, but this is their element!
