Spring at Seaford

With thick fog in HPP but a reasonable forecast, I decided to head down to Seaford, my theory being that the Fog would clear first at the coast!! I didn't leave the house til 8 and things weren't looking good as I drove along the A27 with the fog getting thicker!!! However on arrival at Splash Point, although a bit misty, visibility was good. Quick look for a Black Redstart on the rocks was a failure, but had two Shags under the basket! A few Kittiwakes and a Fulmar the best of the rest!

Fulmar, distant but quite pleased with this pic, the new camera set up focused well so brace yourself for lots of seawatching pics as the season progresses

Shag having a stretch

Not much moving on the sea, in fact nothing! I decided to climb the Seaford Head a quite frankly ridiculous decision for someone with the lung capacity of an asthmatic squirrel! Some time later I made it to the top! I was hoping for a Wheatear but was denied. However this is about the best time to see the local stuff, Skylarks ascending, Pipits descending, Rock Pipits strutting around like they own the place, Stonechats posing well! Highlight of a loop taking in the Barn and Hope Gap were 4 Corn Buntings on the Dungheap and a very showy Kestrel, it may have been more than one Kestrel, if not it was very mobile!!

Skylark

The Head is a great place to get pics of Skylarks as the amount of people means they are fairly tame

Newhaven from the Head, proof i made it to the top!

Kestrel is back!

No Shags under the basket now!

Had another look on the rocks in the hope that the tide would have pushed a Black Redstart up  but no luck!!
Really enjoyable spring walk, pretty much the whole time in bright sunshine with Skylarks singing all the way round!!
