Scotland 2025 Day 8 Martins and Castle

 09/05/2025

After the previous days exhausting activities we decided on a bit of a rest day, so we had a drive to Glen Esk, then a quick walk up to Loch Lee, stunning weather yet again and somehow Margie managed to find another Castle! She's like a castle magnet! On the bird front, Spotted Flycatcher was probably the highlight, good views of Bullfinch, loads of Song Thrushes, Sand Martins and Housemartins collecting mud were also fun to watch! Had a very distant Osprey from a carpark as well!! There may have been a Wheatear as well, I hardly noticed! Some of Margie's scenery pics followed by a few Bird pics by me, oh alright I will put a couple of Wheatear ones in if you insist!!!

Red Kite

Roe Deer

Brown Hare, we saw loads of these all through our stay in the area

Sand Martin, tricky to get shots of

Spotted Flycatcher

Bullfinch, seem to be fairly common we saw or at least heard them on most days of our Holiday

Young Song Thrush, lots of these seen as well

Pied Wagtail

Meadow Pipit

Despite what Margie says, there is no such thing as too many pictures of a Wheatear

Housemartin, gathering mud, don't often get a chance at these so filled me boots!

Got what it came for!

Common Sandpiper

Chaffinch

Pied Wagtail

Spotted Flycatcher

Sandmartin

Swallow

Bullfinch

Very distant Osprey

Invermark Castle

Not  a bad day as we were only going for a drive!
