On going to bed, the windows were rattling and the howling was unbelievable😲😂!! The weather was attrocious!!😂 So it was with some relief on opening the curtains it wasn't raining Hurrah!! Though it was very misty and grey!!!

Garden Blackbird, loads of Blackbirds on Mull! |
Think you're going to have to get used some grey, dull pics, the weather is not being kind!!!
Today we had decided to stay fairly local to our base in Dervaig, we would start at yesterday's Dipper location, then drive around, firstly to look for some Snow Buntings that had been reported a few days previous, then down to Torlisk, before rounding off to Calgary Beach, the plan, to basically drive the single track roads until we found something good!! Lots of passing places on these roads, which are in pretty good nick!! Below are some pics of the things we found, as per usual my pics are the birds and Margie has done most of the scenery!!
The Dipper spot as we have christened it, bit different with the tide in and no sign of a Dipper😢 |
Greylag Geese |
Seven Snipe had a fly around |
The rain has created some superb Waterfalls!! |
Red Deer we ran into several of these, not literally, we are driving to slowly for that |
Checking us out!! We stayed in the car! |
The scenery is lovely |
These were on the side of the road, with no fences!! Margie wanted to take more pics, but I weren't hanging around!! |
Even though it was very grey and misty, the Sun tried to break through! |
A Buzzard showed well as we crossed some Moorland, you can go through 4 habitats on a 20 minute drive! |
A Kestrel hovered, we saw four on our tour |
We hit the coast |
We stopped at a likely looking spot and set up the scope, I don't mind carrying it in the car!! Seal popped up |
Great Northern Diver, plenty of these about |
Great Black-backed Gull |
Raven |
We arrived at Calgary Beach, a field on the way in held Waders and Geese, The Waders were Oystercatchers and Curlews, the Geese were Greylags, with a single Pinkfoot with them, I have scanned a lot of Geese flocks this holiday already!! Nice to be rewarded for my diligence!

Chaffinch, flock of about 40 around some cattle feed, despite giving the my full attention couldn't find a Brambling. |

Dunnock, lot's of em on Mull |
We found another awesome Waterfall
Grey Heron, there seems to be one around every corner and can be annoying when one is looking for Eagles, I'd strung three by this point! 😂 |
Red-breasted Merganser, lot's about but none very close as yet |
Common Gull |
Hen Harrier, mucho excitement when this came along the coast! |

Greenshank |
Back at the ranch I put some peanuts into the feeders and within minutes there were several Tits on it!!!
A very enjoyable day, there's only about 7 hours daylight here, which just about does us well as we were running out of energy by the end!!!! A very good start, no Eagles, but the weather wasn't very conducive and anyway don't want to peak to early!! Still any day with two Otters and a Hen Harrier is a good day!!
