Local Again, Again!!!!!!

Blue skies and even better, hardly any wind (apart from my usual early morning rumbles obvs😲😏) greeted Margie and me as we set off on our early morning walk. We had decided to do another circuit of the Hurst Meadows/Millennium Gardens area though we ended up doing a massive loop ending up at Bulfinch Lane,4 miles in all. Usual Sparrows and Starlings with a Greenfinch singing in a tree at the end of the Weald Close Twitten but was buried in the branches so no Pics!!

We entered the Hurst Meadows through the Marchant's Road entrance, pretty quiet with some Meadow Pipits on the wires but soon became obvious there were plenty more on the ground we followed the hedge round, I was surprised to hear a Yellowhammer singing strongly eventually finding the bird on the hedge showing well!! Few Blue Tits in the hedge as well and of course a showy Robin.

Meadow Pipit good view of the hind claws!

Plenty of birds about as we transitioned from the meadows to the gardens but nothing really posed well Greenfinch, Long-tailed Tit ,some Redwings and  a Chiffchaff calling occasionally as it flitted through the bushes and small trees. Some nice Primroses about as well.

We crossed the main road and and followed the path through where the view opened up nicely, across these fields we had some Redwings, 2 pairs of Mistle Thrushes having a very loud Turf War and a Jay which I just about got on before it disappeared into the trees.

We crossed the London Road and walked across the fields towards Bullfinch Lane another Yellowhammer in the hedge, though departed before pics could be taken, saw several Yellowhammers again up here but were very flighty today for some reason. A small flock of Redwings and Fieldfares flushed from a tree, and Margie saw a flyover Curlew which I missed trying to get pics of a Skylark ,would of been number 70 on me year list had I looked up 😢 Plenty of Skylarks up here, mostly miles in the air or skulking around on the deck the only one that did fly up close by nearly blinded me by flying into the sun as I was taking pics!!😎

Leaving the Skylarks behind we headed home along Bullfinch Lane a very showy Song Thrush, a couple of Stock Doves and a Buzzard the highlights of the walk home, we saw 4 Buzzards in the air from the top fields but all were distant.

Very pleasant walk apart from the Chiffchaff not much sign of migration ,hopefully will start to kick in over the next couple of weeks. Of note there was no sign at all today of the massive Gull Flock from yesterday ,the fields completely empty, wonder where they disappeared to!!
