Today was a more touristy day than birding we had a nice drive through the impressive Cheddar Gorge, spent far too much money on Cheese and Cider and ate a Cheddar Cheese Ice Cream, which was surprisingly nice! There were some impressive sheep in the gorge!
| Margie "accidently" captured this Buzzard, about the only bird we saw in the Gorge |
Margie trying to capture the grandeur of it all! But difficult when you have to crop the road out!
| Mountain Sheep |
| We had an amusing 10 minutes watching this big boy trying to get his end away! |
| The object of his desire |
| She didn't seem that interested spent the whole encounter eating |
| Every time he tried his luck, without seeming to she just took a couple of steps to put him off! |
| Another unsuccessful attempt |
We had a wander around the town, Cheese was bought and a Grey Wagtail was spotted!
| The Cheese Haul as tasty as it looks, at time of writing there is some left! Not much but some! |
| Margie got a couple of pics of the Wagtail |
| Some random Hunk Margie took a fancy to |
| Attempting the Cheddar Cheese Ice Cream, quite tasty and a Gluten Free cone Hurrah! |
Having done the touristy bit we headed to Cheddar Reservoir, low water Levels, loads of Pied Wagtails, Great Crested Grebes, about a Million Coots, a couple of Great Egrets and some frustrating Linnets the best of it. Also saw Canada Geese diving completely underwater which was a little strange!
| Pied Wagtail, must have been at least fifty around the reservoir, maybe many more |
| Great Egret |
| Little Egret |
| Little Egret |
| Linnet, were several small flocks around the edges but very flighty |
| Great Crested Grebe, probably about 50 on the reservoir |
| Canada Geese |
| Clouded Yellow Butterfly can't believe how many of these I've seen this year, there were loads again here |
Not a bad day as we headed to the Hot Tub and Cheese!
