Scotland 2025 Day 4 Arbroath

 05/05/2025

It was actually Auchmithie that we ended up at, rumours that Puffins breed on the cliffs drawing us in. Walked down to the Old Harbour, picturesque, with Yellowhammer, Willow Warbler, Sedge Warbler, Whitethroat, Linnet and Stonechat all singing, not much on the Sea, a few Guillemots and Razorbills bobbing about in the distance and a couple of Fulmar flying about!

After a somewhat confusing conversation with a bloke on the beach we learn't that Puffins were a bit further North, though it was difficult to ascertain if he'd actually seen any today! We decided to follow the coastal path North, unfortunately the path didn't actually follow the coast and after about 1 and a half miles of walking we couldn't figure out when it headed back to the cliffs so we bailed out! Well it was hot and sunny and we're old! We did though find a sizable flock of Corn Buntings and loads of Skylarks and Meadow Pipits!

We decided to head into Arbroath, after an Ice Cream and a bit of a rest we had a walk along the Cliffs to the Seaton Cliffs Nature Reserve, Spectacular scenery with the pink cliffs looking fantastic. Bird wise, Rock Pipits, House Martins and a Kittiwake Colony kept me interested.

Brad still about!
