Easter Weekend

Slow start to the Easter Weekend, Good Friday was more Average Friday really, local walk produced just two Pied Wagtails in 4 miles walked for me and Margie!!! It really is rubbish around here!! On the plus side Leicester lost, though Ipswich won, meaning Tractor Girl🚜Margie has been pretty unbearable all weekend, 😂especially as the Mighty Whites only limped to a draw😢😂!!! Gonna be a lot of twist and turns before the Championship is sorted this season!! Personally I hope it's Leeds and Ipswich in that order!! I did manage to make a Gluten Free, Organic Simnel Cake, which came out very tasty!!! Homemade Marzipan as well!!!

Pied Wagtail

The finished cake!

Tasty as!!

Saturday, we headed to Arlington Reservoir, several Little Gulls had been present on Friday, but predictably they'd gone!!😢 Was flat calm at the reservoir and very little about, singing Chiffchaffs and Blackcaps, in the woods and a couple of Pied Wagtails on the Dam, but that was pretty much it except for a Green Woodpecker and several Great Crested Grebes on the water!! Lots of Blue-Green Algae in the water as well!!! A few of mine and Margie's pics below! Margie's pics marked (M)

Flat calm, zero wind not conducive for Little Gulls!(M)

Green Woodpecker

Having a sing

Not many Gulls about at all, 2cy Herring gull not doing much

Great Crested Grebe, sadly none came particularly close, we did see a couple dancing though!

Nice Church with scaffolding

Nice view across the water

Don't think the blossom has been particularly good this year! (M)

A very picturesque walk, which Margie captured very well, bit disappointing on the bird front, wasn't that surprised the Little Gulls had disappeared  but disappointed didn't get a Swallow or a Sand Martin over the water or a Wheatear on the Dam, or maybe even an Osprey heading North, but it wasn't to be!!!

On return home I made a Cheesecake for tomorrow!!

Easter Sunday, started with a Seawatch at Splash Point Seaford, bit too much action to cover here so I did another post which you can read at the link!

On return home I ate the rather nice Easter Egg Margie had bought me!

The cocktail was tasty and along with the glass of wine I had with the very nice Roast Lamb Dinner Margie cooked I was as merry a I've been for a while!

The Cheesecake proved tasty as well!!

Easter Monday was a chance to recover from the overload of sugar. Had a sensible bowl of Amaranth Porridge for breakfast, this and Teff Porridge have become my go to breakfast since I became Gluten Free and I must admit, a bowlful of either with Blueberries , Berry Boost and a spoonful of Demerara have really raised my energy levels lately!!! Highly recommend!!
With Margie not feeling to great, possibly Cheesecake poisoning but she reckons it's a cold, I headed out locally, to "the patch" off Albourne Road, pretty late start, no I didn't have a Hangover!!!!
Not a bad walk good views of Red Kites and Buzzards, eventually found a pair of Yellowhammer, a close encounter with a Treecreeper, lots of Chiffchaffs and a singing Chaffinch the highlights! A few pics below!

Grey Heron, lounging in the first field, got a bit excited thinking it was a Crane for about 2 seconds😏

Another Pied Wagtail

Lots of Robins about

Chiffchaff in Blossom

Red Kite

Flew over my head, bit of a silhouette, pics have been lightened to death!

Common Buzzard

Goldfinch

Field full of Dandelions, several Skylarks here but didn't get any pics

HPP Church

Raven, one of a pair, which headed off towards Wolstonbury Hill so possible the same pair we photographed last week!

Wolstonbury Hill

Pigeon on the gnarly tree, hopefully a Swallow will finally land on top of it this summer

Lots of Lambs about

One of which was gambolling!!! As they do, ahhhhhhh!!!

Treecreeper

Tricky Buggers to get a picture of!

Lots of Buzzards about

Chiffchaff

Long-tailed Tit, just hanging around!

Singing Chaffinch a rare sound these days!

Dandelions

Song Thrush, singing constantly took me ages to spot it in the treetops!

Male Yellowhammer

Female Yellowhammer

Not a bad wander for a couple of hours hopefully reduced the effects of the Cheesecake and the Simnel Cake!!!
The rest of the day was spent watching footy, where Ipswich, much to the joy of Margie, managed to fluke a 97th minute winner over Southampton😏, taking them to the top of the league, a fact which she has reminded me of  constantly since😱! Luckily Leeds, managed to grind out a win against Hull, keeping the Mighty Whites in the hunt!! Has to be said there was an awful lot of swearing and throwing things towards the TV and I was just as bad in the second game😂. FFS Farke make some bloody substitutions😡😡😢😂😂😂
A nice relaxing weekend all round!!!😲😲😂
