Bits "n" Bobs

With the nasty weather forecast for today, birding was put on hold until tomorrow I know fair weather birder😢, Instead a bit of shopping in Forest Row, I know, the lengths I will go to get a Gluten Free Pie!!😂 As we were in the area, we popped into the hide end at Weirwood, we were only there 15mins but quite productive, with Mandarin for the year, Marsh Tit on the feeder, a Kingfisher which was sat on a branch across the reservoir the whole time we were there. A nice showy Nuthatch as well. Not much else about though, The Herons and Cormorants were busy in the colony, but didn't see a single Great Crested Grebe which was quite surprising! Few pics below

Nuthatch

Kingfisher sadly distant!

Even turned it's back on me!

Marsh Tit

We arrived back home, getting the pies safely in the freezer, just settling down to watch the footy when Margie spotted the male Sparrowhawk that is a fairly regular visitor to our garden, sat on the lawn, on further observation we spotted that he had a Sparrow in his talons! First time we've seen him catch anything. A few pics below, don't worry they are not that gory, he flew off to eat  his meal elsewhere! Pics through the window!

Well when all the excitement died down, I made a Gluten Free Organic Coffee Cake, which turned out ok. In fact better than ok, think the first sponge I've made where you wouldn't really know it was Gluten Free. (Margie did the washing up!)

Very Tasty!!!
