Paddling at Newhaven

A spur of the moment trip down to Newhaven this afternoon to blow away the cobwebs, 20 mins from our house so local enough for us in Tier 2!! We parked on the westside of the river in the carpark under the fort, was kin windy 🌬 difficult to get the car door open, were showers all around with the sky looking very dark out to Sea, While I got me wellies on and tried to get into my coat without taking off, Margie was getting some pics of the waves crashing into the harbour arm with the lighthouse at the end.

Seaford Head from Newhaven bit rough out there!!
Finally kitted up we set off west, once out of the Carpark a few birds were about with approx 8 Rock Pipits and a couple of Stonechats the best of them, lots of Gulls, Jackdaws and Feral Pigeons that even i won't string into Rock doves although one of them did have a white rump😀

We were both concentrating on trying to get a picture of the waves crashing into the Lighthouse which was even more spectacular from this side of the Arm ,although I was frequently distracted by the marvellous Fulmars, in their element true masters of the wind!! which coincidently is my nickname once I've consumed a few sprouts at Christmas 😀😁
Best efforts at the waves below quite spectacular really but blooming hard to get a picture of them at exactly the right moment!! 😢

So while all this was going on Margie was up to her old tricks , whenever we hit the beach she likes to head for the surf line and play chicken with the waves,(she's like a 10 year old in this respect) only this time the waves won and they weren't playing😲😲😲unfortunately I was busy trying to take pics of the Fulmars and therefore missed the £250 you've been framed shot and was laughing to hard to really take advantage, luckily she wasn't knocked off her feet although looking at her face as she was thigh deep in the English Channel was priceless!! Needless to say that pretty much put an end to proceedings and we headed back to the car we was both laughing, luckily Phone,Camera and Bins all escaped harm!!
Getting a bit to close

Not really learning her lesen

On a serious note of course ,had she been knocked over could have been much nastier and a child in a similar position could have ended badly, really shows the need to respect the sea and be aware at all times of the danger!!!
The walk back to the car was quiet, possibly the sound of my laughter putting the birds off though a small flock of Oystercatchers flew in so I diverted and got a couple of shots.

So back to the car after what was a highly enjoyable hour, love being by the Sea on a windy day, shame it was curtailed so soon as I felt I was beginning to get a feel for them Fulmars. Can't take her anywhere😁😁😁😁!!!!!!
