Our final full day, on the Isle of Skye didn't really go to plan, we had just arrived at Neist Point with a view to going to see the lighthouse, when Margie announced she had left her phone in Dunvegan toilets!! We were halfway back to Dunvegan when we realised she had been googling stuff on the journey to the point! A more thorough search of the car produced the phone, grrrrrrr, needless to say there was quite a bit of swearing and that was just Margie!!! We decided to knock it on the head, we was knackered anyway after yesterday's boat trip, so we went to Portree, where I spent too much money on Scottish necessities such as Haggis flavoured Chocolate and Whiskey Fudge!

Think it's a Chiffchaff |

Whinchat |

A final bit of Scenery |

Coffee and Hazelnut was delicious, Haggis is an acquired taste which I have no further desire to acquire! Though some people at work quite liked it, to be honest it just tasted herby to me! |
We travelled back the next morning saw some Otters on a loch near the bridge, but the cameras were buried in the car so no pics, we broke the journey in Warrington Premier Inn and made it home early on the Sunday!!
An enjoyable two weeks, think the East Coast was better than I expected with Skye being a little bit of a disappointment, though to be fair was probably our own fault, don't think we left the cottages until 9am most days, when we left early to come home we saw the Otters, so obvious tip, get up earlier !! Too many Camper Vans everywhere, think if you are younger and can walk for miles there probably are places on the island where you can find a bit of piece and quiet but certainly everywhere we went was pretty packed! Still we saw some good birds, pretty much attained all the targets we set ourselves, except we couldn't find any kind of Grouse! Think my highlights were the Scoters on day 1, the cliffs at Fowlsheugh and Talisker Beach, though the Scenery on Skye is pretty epic and worth the trip on it's own ! Margie would probably say Dunnottar Castle, the ferry trip, the Waterfall on Skye and the Glens! We both enjoyed the Old Man of Storr just because we made it up alive, the sense of a achievement and the realisation we might have a few more years in us as yet!!!!
