Decided to stay local this morning, having a wander around the Patch off Albourne Road. Very slow only enlivened by a few Nuthatches, a Green Woodpecker, a couple of Sedge Warblers and a flock of Yellowhammers, some pictures below with notes. Back home quite early so attempted my most ambitious bake to date, fed up with Crumbles I decided to make a Blackberry and Apple Meringue Pie, which came out quite well despite some severe cracking of my homemade Gluten Free pie crust. View pictures of that below as well!!!

Having seen zillions of pics of the Blue Super Moon all over the internet, was a little disappointed the other night that it was covered in cloud!

Chiffchaff, heard several around the place and 3 actually singing!!

Yellowhammer, 3 or 4 in the usual place

Bit misty for the church pic today

So few birds about I'm reduced to taking pics of Spider webs, arty!!!

Distant Deer

The Roe Deer stood stock still the whole time I walked down the hill!!

Squirrel becoming one with a tree!!

Nuthatch this one was the showiest, but several seen and heard

I walked around a bend in the path and bumped into a Roe Deer, don't know who was more surprised? But I managed a few pics!

Shame this was a bit blurred as it show how high he got when he bounced about!!

Green Woodpecker, I heard several but this was the only one that posed

Yellowhammer, on the way back numbers had grown to at least 12 including a couple of Juveniles

Sedge Warbler, two together showed well preening in the hedgerow!

Jay flew in landed briefly then flew off
So a pretty dull walk, in pretty dull weather enlivened by ten minutes with Yellowhammers and Sedge Warblers!! Pie pics below as promised!

Bramly Apples from a local farm

Loads of Blackberries about this year this is my second lot, crumble overload!

Bit of Port, Lemon Juice and Cornflower in the mix

Disaster strikes, luckily I'd saved some pastry for patching up!!

Lovely Colour

First time I've made meringue

Came out ok but the pastry got more cracks in it than the mighty Whites defence!!

Margie said it was like eating a Cloud!

Blackberry and Apple was a bit oozy, but will probably firm up a bit in the fridge!!
So a delicious end to the day, might have another bit for Supper!!!! 😂
