Sparrowhawk

Minding me own business today, watching the footy, thinking about cooking dinner, when there was quite a loud bang on the window, turned out a Sparrowhawk had chased a Starling into it, which obviously didn't end well for the Starling😢 I think the Starling must have died on impact as it didn't struggle at all. Sad for the Starling but a Sprawk gotta eat!  On the plus side it gave me cracking views of a stunning male Sparrowhawk which spent an hour near our pond eating it's meal. I managed to, very, very, very, very slowly open the door and took a few shots! This is only the second time this year we have seen the Sprawk. A few pics below some of which are pretty gory, so if you are squeamish or just had your Tea probably give it a miss!!!

Hurst walk.

Saturday evening, had a walk down Bullfinch Lane, pretty quiet  though at least 6 Chiffchaff calling and no less than 4 Yellowhammers as the Sun went down was nice to see! Skylarks were quite active chasing each other about and making song flights and there was a big flock of around 30 Meadow Pipits.  Barn Owl made a brief appearance towards Dusk but was very distant across the A23! Few pictures below. Also nice to meet another local, birder , so well camouflaged I nearly trod on him!😲 Someone else to tread the barren wastes that is the HPP countryside!

Song Thrush

Pied Wagtail

Collared Dove

Chiffchaff, nearly dislocated my back getting these shots!
