Holiday Cornwall Begins

We left Somerset and headed to Cornwall, the plan was to stop off at Davidstow Airfield before heading down to our new digs near Marazion. Problem was the weather, thick fog!  We did go to the airfield and managed to winkle out a couple of Wheatears and a few Meadow Pipits, but was pretty dismal stuff, so we abandoned early and headed to the Wendron Pancake Barn and gorged on Gluten free Pancakes, which cheered me up no end! Free refills on me Mocha as well, can't be bad!

Margie's did look tasty

But I went traditional Blueberry, Bacon and Maple Syrup!

We spent the rest of the day settling into our new Cottage sadly no Hot Tub!

The next day we decided to give the car a rest and stayed local, heading down public footpaths to the costal path, our target the Cudden Point

It was an enjoyable walk, though longer than we thought, lots of Butterflies, Birds weren't as numerous but managed a few pics!

Wall Butterfly, lots of them throughout our stay in Cornwall

Holiday Day 7 Greylake and Mump

We were going to go to Glastonbury Tor today, but having driven past yesterday, we could see the parking was miles away and there were loads of tourists so decided instead to visit the Burrow Mump instead. Slightly less big but still a large hill and  a nice old ruin on top, we know Margie loves an old ruin! Though she doesn't call me that to my face! 😲Empty Car Park except for one guy working on his van, so we had the place pretty much to ourselves! The walk up to the top wasn't too bad and though it was a bit misty the views all around over the Levels were excellent!

Me gambolling on up the hill

Driving on. almost an endurance athlete really

First glimpse of the ruin
Basically I admired the view while Margie ran around reading boards and taking pictures!

Oi, what's she up to now!!

Glastonbury Tor, honest guv!

On the bird front not much about, a couple of Buzzards drifted over

Buzzard

Also a Buzzard

We left, a couple of miles further on we stumbled on RSPB Greylake which was a bonus! Nice reserve, although like everywhere in desperate need of some rain!! We were told that Cranes were in the area but difficult to see. To cut a long story short they flew over our heads! Pictures from the reserve below!

This should be full of water and covered in ducks!

Lots of Dragonflies about, this maybe a Migrant Hawker, though I'm not really up on them

Buzzard having a mooch

Cattle Egret

Marsh Harrier

Buzzard

At first the Cranes were distant dots in the Bins but slowly came closer, calling loudly

And then they gave us a flypast!

A spectacular sight for sure!

Buzzard

The Cranes put in a few more appearances but were always distant

Another reasonable day in Somerset, the Cranes were a spectacular surprise, back to base for a final hot tub

I've finally given into the incessant clamour for a pic, might post one with the bubbles on next!!😂😁

Onwards to Cornwall!!!!
